Guerlain Sur Mes Lèvres: Spring 2011 Makeup Sneak Peek

I know, I know...the holidays are not over but we're already seeing a lot of the makeup collections for the Spring 2011 season. Guerlain in particular has some snazzy products for us to look forward to. I can't wait to see the Sur Mes Lèvres collection on the counters.

Bright shades of pink, fuchsia, and orange dominate the color scheme. The Rouge G lipsticks are packaged in new black lacquered cases and the Blush G compact reminds me of a luxe version of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks.

The new Ecrin 6 Couleurs eyeshadow palette also has a touch of bright fuchsia amidst the nudes, gold, ivory and shimmering brown. It'd be interesting to see how dark the fuchsia appears on the eyelids.

Lastly, Météorites fans can look forward to a brand new Météorites Compact. Available in three nude shades, the matte pressed powder still features the famous complexion correcting colors of green, red, yellow, orange, violet and white.

I love the orange shades of lipstick. I will definitely be investing in one for the Spring.

I remember once giving a speech at a San Jose State commencement program. Afterward, I got to see a number of students receive their diplomas. I couldn't believe so many of them had majored in "packaging.'' I didn't even know that WAS a major. But looking at these gorgeously packaged cosmetics, I see now the value of a degree like that. We take packaging for granted so often and value only what it holds inside. But sometimes the package is far more ingenious than its contents. ;)

I'm not surprised at all, since everything we use has a packaging component. It totally makes or breaks the sale.
