Jay Clifford - Driving Blind
July 17, 2008 I adore Jay Clifford. He's one of my all-time favorite songwriters. For those who haven't yet discovered him, the hauntingly beautiful voice of Jump (formerly Jump Little Children) has a nice solo album, Driving Blind. While not my favorite (still longing for the old JLC stuff, along with the Rosebud songs), this one has the breathtaking "Diving Bell," easily the prettiest song in this album. The lyric "Finally asleep, she is sold, each breath for a handsome price..." is such a riveting image. Other gems include "Caught in the Rain," "Paralyze," and "Dissolves."

This is a humorist worthy of a permanent spot on your bookshelf, and you can count on many laughs with each reading.

Both varietals are really decadent in taste and much more honeyed than commercial juices. The Gewürztraminer carries all the beautifully floral and crisp character from the wine (except, well, the alcohol) while the Pinot Noir is more complex. Way better than regular grape juices, these are best when served cold, on the rocks, or with sparkling mineral water.
To re-create the look: Apply Lancôme black liquid Artliner on the upper lash line to make the eyes pop. Add a few coats of Lancôme Hypnôse mascara for a beautiful boost of volume and length. For a touch of color to the apples of the cheeks, use Giorgio Armani Sheer Cream Blush #2. Set the look by dusting Laura Mercier translucent powder all over the face. For soft neutral lips, finish up with Lancôme Color Design Lipcolor in B-List.
